That afternoon, Galaxy had just returned from the office. Stuck in Jakarta's heavy traffic, his hawk eyes accidentally caught sight of Bella, his fiancée, clinging affectionately to the arm of his best friend and coworker, Okky, at a café.
"That's Bella and Okky. The nerve! So this is what they've been doing behind my back!"
Galaxy immediately pulled his car over when the traffic began to clear. Overcome with emotion, Galaxy approached the two of them.
"Slam!" Galaxy pounded the table in front of them.
"So this is what you two have been doing behind my back?" Galaxy demanded, startling Okky and Bella.
"Gal... Galaxy...?"
"Yeah, why? Surprised to see me here? So this is what you've been doing behind my back all this time? Cheating on me with Okky, my own best friend!"
Bella stared at Galaxy with fear on her face. Her hands trembling, she tried to reach for Galaxy's hand, but Galaxy immediately pulled it away from her.
"Don't touch me with those filthy hands, Bella!"
With a trembling voice, Bella tried to explain herself to Galaxy.
"Sweetheart, Galaxy, this isn't what it looks like. Okky and I don't have anything going on. We were just having a meeting."
Galaxy stared at them with a scornful look.
"A meeting, you say? Do you think I'm blind? I clearly saw you two acting all lovey-dovey. And you too, Ky. I gave you a good job at the office. I treated you like family. And this is how you repay me? Traitor!"
Hearing that, Bella immediately objected to being blamed by Galaxy.
"Enough, Galaxy! Don't just blame Okky! You should look at yourself. All you ever do is work, work, and work. You never have time for me! Your fiancée!"
Hearing that, Galaxy was taken aback.
"Oh, so that's why you cheated on me with Okky behind my back? Because I was busy? Let me make one thing clear, Bell. I work to prepare for our wedding and to pay for your shopping. Ugh, whatever. You're both traitors! And you, Ky, you're not my best friend anymore. Starting today, you're fired."
"Starting today, you're not my fiancée anymore. There's no place in my life for a traitor."
Bella's eyes widened when she heard that. "Gala, you can't just break up with me whenever you feel like it! Gala!"
Galaxy immediately walked away from them, his face filled with disappointment.
Inside the car, Galaxy gripped the steering wheel tightly and began leaving the restaurant's parking lot. He drove extremely fast, as if channeling all his anger into the car.
"Arrrrgh! Damn you! Damn you both! How could you betray me? What more could I have done for you two?"
Gala continued flooring the gas, driving at maximum speed. Without realizing it, when he reached a bend, an oncoming truck appeared at high speed. Galaxy tried to avoid it but lost control of his car. The vehicle swerved and crashed into a tree near a cliff.
The force of the impact severely damaged the front of Galaxy's car.
"Oh God," Rengganis, Galaxy's mother, exclaimed as she suddenly shattered a glass.
Gerry, Galaxy's younger brother, heard the sound of breaking glass and hurried over.
"Mom, are you okay? Why did you break the glass? Are you hurt?" Gerry asked, deeply worried about his mother.
"I don't know, honey. I suddenly got a bad feeling. Oh, no... what could be happening?"
"Why don't you go rest in your room, Mom? Let Surti clean up the broken glass."
Before Rengganis could answer, her cellphone suddenly rang. It was a call from an unknown number.
"Am I speaking with Mrs. Rengganis?"
"Yes, this is she."
"We're calling from the police department to inform you that your son, Galaxy, has been in a car accident. At this time, the victim has not yet been found."
To be continued.
