“Well, first, I’m going to make love to you.” She whispers, running her hands over my chest. I groan and look at her excitedly. “And then…” She gently kisses my chin. “We’re going to have breakfast with your parents.” She smiles and trails her lips along my jaw. “After that, I’m going to kidnap you, and we’re going on a little trip to Amsterdam with Ana, Jo, Josh, and Sam.”
I laugh and kiss her temple. “Man, I haven’t been to Dam in forever. The last time Josh and I went, we got so high that we ended up in the blue-light district.” I tell her, and Sheila’s eyes widen before she laughs.
“No!”
I laugh, shaking my head. “Luckily, I realized what was happening and stopped Josh before he did something he’d need a ton of therapy for later.” Sheila throws her head back and laughs hysterically.
“Well, as upset as I am that I can’t ‘adventure’ with you guys, I’ll make sure to keep all of you far away from the blue-light district.” She promises, and I laugh, shaking my head at the good memories I had from that trip. It was on Josh’s twenty-first birthday. We took a boys’ trip with all our friends, and it was memorable.
After our shower, Sheila and I went to bed.
The next morning, Sheila kept her promise and woke me with soft, loving kisses on my lips. We made love before packing for our two-day trip to Amsterdam and having breakfast with my parents.
“I can’t believe we’re going to Dam. I’m so excited!” Jo says excitedly as we board the jet. I wrap an arm around my wife and tenderly stroke her neck, and she nestles against me. Ana opens the champagne and pours a glass for everyone.
“Sorry, Sheila. Apple juice for you, sweetheart.” Ana teases, handing her a glass of apple juice, and she smiles. “I’ll drink in your place, don’t worry.” She adds with a mischievous grin.
“Lucky for you bitches, I don’t need alcohol to have fun.” She shrugs, and I lovingly kiss her chin as I rub her belly.
“All right. Time for a toast.” Josh says, holding up his glass of champagne. “To Cole’s birthday. You may be getting older, but you’re still one sexy son of a bitch.” He toasts. I laugh, holding up my glass. “Happy birthday, Cole!” We all clink our glasses and drink. I’m so incredibly blessed to have such a wonderful life. I was surrounded by a great group of friends. I had the most beautiful woman in the world by my side, carrying my baby. I was so happy. The jet’s lights go out, the music starts playing, and we all cheer.
The girls pull Sheila off my lap, and they all start dancing. Josh and Sam begin passing out drinks. They were on a mission to get me drunk, of that I was certain. “Drink up, bro!” Sam sings, handing me another shot and slapping my back. Ana pulls Josh onto the dance floor with her while Sam walks over to Jo. Sheila looks at me, smiling beautifully. I walk over to her and wrap my arms around her waist, pulling her against me. Sheila wraps her arms around my neck as we sway together to the music. “Your love makes me dizzy, baby.” I speak into her ear, and she laughs.
“That’s the tequila, baby.”
I shake my head, smiling down at her upturned face. “No, it’s not. I have you, but I still want you desperately. How is that possible?” I growl, and she smiles, her cheeks flushing.
“That’s a good thing because I still want you, and I always will, you sexy beast.” She tells me and pulls my lips to hers, kissing me hot and hard. I groan as she sucks on and runs her tongue over mine.
“Oh, gross, I don’t want to see that. Get a room, you two.” Sam grumbles, displeased to see me making out with his little sister. I wave him off while continuing to kiss her as we keep dancing together.
We landed in Amsterdam an hour later. We rented bicycles and pedaled around the city together—which wasn’t easy to do while we were drunk. Sam and Jo fell twice, and it was hilarious watching Jo scold him. He’s six foot four and built like a tank, while she’s five foot three and tiny. Such a mismatched pair, but she seems to keep him under control. After our bike rides, we walked around the city and visited the Anne Frank Museum, where Sheila spent a good forty minutes sobbing.
“Sweetheart, come on, please stop crying.” I urge her, wiping away her tears. She sniffles and sobs adorably.
“It’s so sad.” She whines, and I wrap my arms around her more tightly. “I read the book, but seeing it all…” She sobs again. I smile, brush her hair away from her face, and kiss her forehead.
“Hey, baby, do you want a cinnamon pretzel?” I ask, trying to distract her, and she nods as we walk. I hand her the pretzel, and she eats it as we stroll along the river.
“Dude, what was that?” Josh asks, referring to Sheila’s emotional outburst. I smile and shake my head.
“Hormones, bro. She’s like a damn yo-yo. One minute she’s happy, and the next she’s crying her eyes out.” I explain, watching her laugh with the girls as if she hadn’t been sobbing just seconds ago. “I’ve noticed she likes to eat, so whenever she gets upset, I give her food, and she’s happy again.” I say with a shrug, and Josh bursts out laughing.
“Ahhhhh, weird, but it’s kind of cute. How do you feel about this whole baby thing?” He asks, taking a sip of his coffee.
I sigh and bite my lip. “I’m excited, man. I felt the baby kick for the first time last night, and it was the best feeling in the world. Seeing the girl you love carry and nurture your baby inside her is so magical—even with all the hormones.” I tell him, and Josh smiles and nods.
“I’m so happy for you, bro. I can’t wait to settle down and have a baby.” Josh confesses, looking at Ana. I follow his gaze and smile fondly.
“How are things with you two?” Josh nods, biting his lip.
“We’re great. Ana is different from anyone I’ve ever known. She’s fierce and passionate about everything she does, and I love that about her. She definitely keeps me on my toes.” He laughs, looking at her. “Have you ever wondered where we’d be now if everything had gone according to plan that night you met Sheila? You went to Ana instead, and I went to Sheila.”
I frown and try to imagine myself with Ana, then shake my head with a grimace. “Nah. I can’t imagine that. I honestly can’t imagine my life without Sheila or how I ever lived without knowing her.”
Josh laughs and shakes his head. “I think we both ended up where we were supposed to be. Sheila’s like a sister to me now. It’s weird to think I was once attracted to her.”
I smile. “Yeah, let’s not open that can of worms again. I’m just grateful everything worked out for us in the end.” I sigh, and Josh nudges my shoulder, nodding.
I never want to imagine my life without Sheila in it. She’s my entire world wrapped up in a beautiful five-foot-three package.
