Breucy was still staring at the message on her phone screen.
An address.
A name.
Arman.
Those were the only two things she had right now.
But for some reason, it felt like someone had just handed her the missing piece of a puzzle.
“Don’t go alone.”
Raka’s voice echoed in her mind again.
Breucy slipped her phone into her pocket.
“I know.”
“Then why do you look like you’re about to go to war?”
Breucy looked at Raka.
“Because I don’t know what I’m going to find.”
Raka fell silent.
It was true.
No one knew who Arman was.
No one knew why he had contacted Breucy.
No one knew why all of this was happening now.
Naya walked around the room.
She studied her surroundings.
“The person who came in earlier wasn’t just looking for something to steal.”
Breucy looked at her.
“What do you mean?”
“They also rummaged through certain places.”
“And?”
“They might be looking for the same thing we are.”
Breucy looked at the photo of her father.
“This?”
“Maybe.”
“Or something bigger.”
Naya’s words plunged the room into silence again.
Breucy put the photo, the watch, and the small key into her bag.
“I’m leaving now.”
Raka immediately stood up.
“I’m coming with you.”
“You don’t have to.”
“Why not?”
“Because if this has something to do with my family, I don’t want to drag you into it.”
Raka let out a quiet laugh.
“That’s funny.”
“What?”
“You’ve been saying you don’t want to drag anyone else into this, but you’re the one who’s been dragged in since this morning.”
Breucy said nothing.
Raka continued.
“The difference is, you’re not alone anymore.”
Breucy didn’t respond.
She knew Raka was right.
Raka had always been like that, ever since they were kids.
Even though he could be annoying, he was always there whenever Breucy needed help.
“All right,” Breucy said.
“Then the three of us will go.”
Naya shook her head.
“Not the three of us.”
They looked at Naya.
“There’s one more person who has to come with us.”
“Who?” Breucy asked.
Naya took out her phone.
She typed a message.
A few minutes later, someone arrived in front of the house.
A man wearing a gray jacket.
He was slightly older than them.
“This is Reno,” Raka said.
Breucy looked at him.
“Your brother?”
Reno nodded.
“Yeah.”
Breucy studied Reno’s face.
Something about him made her feel like she had seen him before.
Not that she knew him.
It was more like she had caught a glimpse of him somewhere.
“You’re the one who knows about my dad?”
Reno didn’t answer right away.
He looked inside the house.
“Come in first.”
Breucy furrowed her brow.
“Why?”
“Because there’s something I need to explain before you leave.”
They eventually went back inside.
Reno sat down in the living room.
He took a deep breath.
“Breucy, before I tell you anything, I want to ask you one thing.”
“What?”
“Has your mom ever told you about your dad?”
Breucy shook her head.
“She only said that he left.”
Reno lowered his head.
“Then he’s still keeping his promise.”
Breucy immediately looked at him.
“His promise?”
Reno realized he had said something he wasn’t supposed to reveal yet.
“Explain.”
Reno was silent for a few seconds.
“Your dad wasn’t an ordinary man.”
Breucy sighed.
“Don’t tell me he had another huge secret.”
“He did.”
“What secret?”
Reno looked at the watch Breucy was carrying.
“You still have that watch.”
Breucy was startled.
“You know this watch?”
Reno nodded.
“It belonged to your dad.”
“Then why does it have my name on it?”
“Because he made that watch specifically for you.”
Breucy stared at the small object in her hand.
“Why?”
“Because he knew that one day you would look into everything.”
Breucy began to lose her temper.
“Why does everyone talk like my dad could see the future?”
Reno looked at her.
“He couldn’t see the future.”
“Then what?”
“He just knew that the truth would be hard to accept.”
The room fell silent.
Reno continued.
“Your dad got involved in something big a long time ago.”
“What kind of thing?”
“He found something he wasn’t supposed to find.”
Breucy stared at him.
“What?”
Reno shook his head.
“I can’t tell you everything yet.”
Breucy immediately stood up.
“Why not?”
“Because if you find out now, you could be in danger.”
“I’ve been in danger since someone broke into my house.”
Reno fell silent.
Breucy stepped closer.
“I’m tired of being given half a story.”
For a while, no one spoke.
Finally, Reno broke the silence.
“All right.”
He took out his phone.
There was an old photo on it.
He showed it to Breucy.
The photo showed several people.
Breucy’s father.
Arman.
And two other people Breucy had never seen before.
“This was taken ten years ago.”
Breucy looked at the photo.
“So?”
“A few days after this photo was taken, one of the people in it disappeared.”
“Who?”
Reno looked at Breucy.
“Your dad.”
Breucy went silent.
“So you all knew he had disappeared this whole time?”
Reno nodded.
“Yeah.”
“Then why did everyone say he left?”
“Because it was the safest story.”
Breucy clenched her fists.
“Safe for who?”
There was no answer.
Because the answer was obvious.
Not for Breucy.
Reno looked at the watch.
“If Arman contacted you, then the time has come.”
“The time for what?”
Reno stood up.
“The time to uncover everything that’s been hidden all these years.”
Breucy picked up her bag.
“The address.”
Reno looked at her.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
“Then I’m coming with you.”
Raka smiled faintly.
“Well, at least everyone finally agrees.”
They got ready to leave.
But before she walked out of the house, Breucy stopped.
She looked at the living room.
The house had felt strange all day.
This was where she had grown up.
This was where she had kept so many memories.
But now she realized there was a part of this house she had never known.
A part filled with secrets.
As they stepped outside, Breucy received another message.
It wasn’t from the same number.
A new number.
The message was short.
Don’t trust Arman.
Breucy stared at the screen.
She showed it to the others.
Reno immediately grew serious.
“Who’s it from?”
Breucy shook her head.
“I don’t know.”
Reno stared at the message for a long time.
Then he said quietly,
“That means they already know we’re on the move.”
Breucy looked at the road ahead.
The more answers she searched for,
the more questions appeared.
And now she had to choose.
Trust Arman.
Or trust a warning from someone she didn’t even know.
For the first time in her life, Breucy felt like she was in the middle of a game she didn’t understand.
And one small mistake could change everything.
