Raka didn't take the recording right away.
His hand hung in the air.
Rina's last words kept repeating in his mind.
And that person knew I would find everything.
The living room fell completely silent. No one dared to speak. Everyone waited for Raka to decide.
Finally, Raka took the recording device.
“Who gave this to Rina?” he asked the old woman in front of him.
The woman looked at Raka with deep sadness on her face.
“My name is Lina.”
“You mean you knew Rina?”
Lina nodded slowly.
“I've known Rina since she was little.”
Raka studied the woman's face.
“Why have I never heard of you?”
“Because Rina asked me not to show up until the right time.”
“Why?”
Lina looked toward Damar.
“Because she knew someone would try to stop her.”
Everyone's eyes immediately turned to Damar.
The man looked even more uneasy.
“I don't know what you all think, but I never wanted Rina to get hurt.”
Raka stared at his father.
“Then why was Rina suspicious of someone in our family?”
Damar didn't answer.
His silence made Raka even more certain that there was something he still didn't know.
Lina walked into the house.
“I brought something else.”
She opened the small wooden box.
Inside was an old key engraved with the letter R.
“This belonged to Rina.”
Vera stepped closer.
“I've seen that key before.”
Everyone turned toward her.
“Where?”
Vera pressed a hand to her chest.
“Rina showed me this key a few days before she disappeared.”
Raka immediately looked at Vera.
“What did she say?”
Vera recalled what had happened.
“She said this key opened a place that held all the answers.”
“What place?”
Vera shook her head.
“I don't know.”
Lina smiled faintly.
“I do.”
Everyone looked at her again.
“That key opens a secret room.”
Raka furrowed his brow.
“In this house?”
Lina nodded.
“Yes.”
Damar stood up immediately.
“That's impossible.”
Lina looked at him.
“You know that room exists.”
Damar's face changed.
Raka saw the shift.
“Dad?”
Damar drew a long breath.
“There’s something I never told you.”
“Again?”
Raka's voice was full of pain.
Damar lowered his head.
“This house used to have an old storage room. After what happened that night, the room was locked.”
“Why?”
“Because Rina's things were in there.”
Raka let out a small, humorless laugh.
“So all this time, all the secrets were in our own house?”
No one answered.
Lina headed toward the back hallway.
“The room is still there.”
Everyone followed her.
The hallway hadn't been used in a long time. Dust covered the floor. The small light overhead flickered.
Raka walked at the front.
With every step, the weight in his chest grew heavier.
At the end of the hallway stood an old wooden door.
Lina stopped.
“This is it.”
Raka looked at the door.
There was a small carving that had nearly faded away.
Rina's handwriting.
For the person still searching for the truth.
Raka touched the writing.
His eyes began to fill with tears.
“She made this for me.”
Vera stood beside him.
“Rina always believed you would find everything.”
Raka inserted the key into the lock.
The key turned easily.
The door slowly opened.
The smell of the old room immediately wafted out.
Inside were piles of boxes, documents, photographs, and several old tapes.
Bima picked up a photograph from the table.
“This…”
Everyone moved closer.
The photograph showed several people standing in front of the house many years ago.
There was Damar.
Bagas.
Arman.
Mira.
And someone Raka didn't recognize.
“Who is this man?”
No one answered.
Damar took the photograph.
His face immediately went pale.
“No way.”
Raka snatched the photograph back.
“You know him?”
Damar fell silent.
“Answer me.”
Damar looked at the photograph.
“He was Bagas's older brother.”
Bagas, who had been silent until then, was instantly shocked.
“My brother?”
Damar nodded.
“But he's dead.”
Lina stepped closer.
“No.”
Everyone stared at her.
“He isn't dead.”
The room seemed to grow colder.
Bagas looked at Lina.
“What do you mean?”
Lina pulled a document from the box.
“Because the man you think is dead is the person who knows the most about why Rina was murdered.”
Raka read the document.
It was an old report about an incident from many years ago.
But one name made him freeze.
The same name as the man in the photograph.
“Why is this name here?”
Vera took the paper.
Her face immediately changed.
“No way.”
Raka looked at her.
“What?”
Vera stared at Raka, her eyes filled with fear.
“This man…”
She pointed to the name.
“Is your biological father.”
Raka froze.
“What?”
Everyone fell silent.
Even the sound of their breathing was clearly audible.
Damar closed his eyes.
As if the greatest secret he'd kept all these years had finally been exposed.
Raka stared at his father.
“You knew?”
Damar didn't answer.
“All this time, I've been living with the wrong story?”
Damar slowly nodded.
“I wanted to explain.”
“But when?”
Raka's voice cracked.
“After everyone I love is gone?”
Damar couldn't bring himself to look at him.
Suddenly, a sound came from the corner of the room.
The old recording had just started playing.
Rina's voice echoed through the room.
“Raka, if you've found this room, that means your family's greatest secret has been exposed.”
Everyone was silent.
“But don't stop here.”
The recording paused for a moment.
Then Rina's voice came again, softer this time.
“Because the person who destroyed our family is still alive.”
Raka gripped the recording device.
“What do you mean, Rina?”
The recording continued.
“And he's in the same room as you right now.”
