Four years later, Yan had grown into a clever and capable child.
Now that he had turned six, he could no longer wait. Whether his body could handle the powers or not, he was going to do it anyway.
Awakening a second element.
Yan had been patient enough holding himself back all this time. Generally, one person could only possess a single element, except for those who had reached the higher levels. But Yan refused to limit himself. He was the creator of this world, and he knew every theory there was about the gifted and spiritual cores.
So this time, Yan was taking a huge gamble. If he succeeded, he would become the only six-year-old in possession of two elements. And if he failed, he would truly die for the second time.
Taking his usual position, Yan sat cross-legged on the floor of his room after locking the door. He inhaled and exhaled at consistent intervals. With both eyes closed, his body tried to draw the energies of nature inside him.
To be honest, Yan hoped to obtain the fire element. Could you imagine how powerful wind and fire would be when combined? But of course, he couldn't choose an element at will.
Yan refocused his mind. The energies of nature began pouring in, taking over his veins and blood. He felt that sensation again, as though his heart and body were being squeezed tight—like they could explode into pieces at any moment.
"Ugh."
Dark red fluid trickled from the corner of his lips. Yan ignored the pain and continued concentrating. A few seconds later, he felt something surge out of his body.
Yan opened his eyes and coughed violently. He genuinely felt like he was about to explode right then and there.
WHAM!
Water. An enormous amount of water enveloped his body before exploding throughout the room. The locked door was blown clean off, and water flowed through the house like a flood.
Yan hurriedly wiped the blood from his mouth and ran toward the door. His mother and older brother were already there, staring at him in confusion.
"Yan, what happened—"
"Russell! Y-Your little brother! He—"
The three of them were soaked from head to toe. Puddles covered the floor of the house, which now looked like a wrecked ship.
Hue Adamine ran over and hugged her youngest child tightly. "You've become gifted, sweetheart! You've awakened your spiritual core!"
She looked deeply moved, unlike Russell, who remained silent and expressionless. Ah, his older brother was thirteen now. He had grown even taller and was dependable.
"Russell, your little brother has the water element!"
"Mom, but Yan is only six years old."
"I know. Isn't it amazing? My son is incredible..."
Hue cupped Yan's cheeks in both hands and pinched them.
They were making such a huge fuss. I couldn't imagine what they'd do if they found out that I'd awakened at the age of two—and that this was my second element.
"How do you feel, sweetheart? Tell Mommy."
Yan prepared to put on his act again.
"I... suddenly felt strange. There was something inside my body. It hurt a little... then water started pouring out. I panicked, but after that, my body felt fine."
Hue gazed at her youngest with deep emotion. Her slender fingers brushed Yan's red hair back. "You've become gifted. Mommy is so happy for you. Now you need to take a bath so you don't catch a cold, okay?"
Yan obediently nodded and walked past his older brother, who was still silent.
'What's wrong with him? Why doesn't he look happy...'
It wasn't merely a guess. Russell had been acting strangely for the past two days. He wasn't the type to fear being outshone, so Yan was certain there was a reason the boy had suddenly become so quiet.
"Bro. Wanna duel with me?"
