“What opportunity?!” Anggun cut him off, immediately flicking Dafa’s forehead with her index finger. “Don’t talk nonsense, kid! I’m way older than you. Focus on college first, then worry about girls!”
Dafa rubbed the spot on his forehead where Anggun had flicked him, but instead of being discouraged, he let out a bright chuckle. “Age is just a number, Sis. What matters is maturity and seriousness.”
Anggun rolled her eyes lazily, trying to hide the flush spreading across her cheeks. She quickly glanced at the watch on her wrist, which already showed that it was past eleven at night.
“That’s enough! You’re getting way off track. I’m going home—it’s really late. I have to go to the office tomorrow morning!” Anggun said firmly as she rose from the plush sofa.
Dafa stood up too, straightening his shirt with the sweet smile still fixed on his face. “Yes, Sis. I’ll drive your car and drop you off in front of your house.”
The two of them headed for the exit. All the way down in the elevator and into the basement parking lot, Dafa acted like an alert personal bodyguard, opening doors for Anggun and making sure she walked beside him.
Half an hour later, Anggun’s red car finally came to a smooth stop in front of the gate of her rental house. The neighborhood was already quiet and deserted.
“Thanks for driving me home, and thanks for all those over-the-top gifts too,” Anggun said as she prepared to unfasten her seat belt.
“No problem, Sis. Want me to carry the shopping bags inside?” Dafa offered promptly.
“Oh, no need... I don’t want to trouble you. Besides, Ivan’s here,” Anggun gently refused. Then she remembered something. “Oh, right. How are you getting home later?”
“Easy. I can take a cab,” Dafa replied casually.
They stepped out of the car. Dafa smiled, but his attention suddenly shifted as he surveyed the area in front of Anggun’s rental house. The front yard looked deserted.
“Ivan’s motorcycle isn’t here, Sis... Looks like he hasn’t come home yet,” Dafa said, pointing at the empty corner of the garage.
Anggun narrowed her eyes, only just realizing the same thing. “Yeah, you’re right... Where’s that damn kid? Maybe he’s busy dating someone.”
Dafa chuckled softly, then turned back toward the trunk and the back seat, which were packed with paper bags.
“All right, Sis, let me help carry the shopping bags, okay? Sis Anggun must be tired if she has to go back and forth carrying all this herself. There’s a lot of it,” Dafa insisted, looking concerned.
Anggun hesitated for a moment as she glanced at the pile of gifts bearing luxury-brand logos. They really were too heavy to carry all at once by herself.
“Umm... Okay. But are you sure I’m not troubling you?” Anggun asked to make sure.
Dafa flashed a sweet smile, showing off his neat row of teeth. “Trouble me? For you, Sis Anggun, I don’t mind.”
Anggun slowly shook her head and lazily rolled her eyes. “Whatever. Fine, let’s go.”
Dafa quickly opened the rear passenger door and gathered the luxury-brand bags, followed by Anggun. The two of them hurried inside the house and headed upstairs.
However, the moment his feet touched the second-floor hallway, Dafa froze for a moment. The memory of accidentally walking into the wrong room the previous night suddenly replayed in his mind with startling clarity. His throat went dry instantly.
From a few steps away, Dafa watched Anggun busily arrange the paper bags on the table. The hazy image of Anggun’s beautiful curves without a stitch of clothing—the sight he had accidentally witnessed the previous night—flashed through his mind again, making his chest pound violently and his heart race out of control.
With her back to Dafa, Anggun suddenly felt the atmosphere in the room turn quiet and strange. When she turned around, she found Dafa standing stock-still, staring straight at her—and the look in his eyes seemed different than usual.
“Dafa?” Anggun called out in confusion, tilting her head for a moment. “Why are you just standing there spacing out? Put the bags in the corner.”
Anggun’s voice instantly snapped Dafa back to reality. The tall man was caught red-handed. He reflexively cleared his throat loudly and rubbed the back of his neck, which felt like it was burning.
“E-uh... yeah, Sis,” Dafa replied, nervous as hell. In a hurry, he put the remaining paper bags in his hands on the table. “I’ll get the rest too, Sis,” he continued, trying to distract her from how flustered he was.
“Don’t. Let’s do it together... I’d feel bad making you go back and forth,” Anggun protested.
Dafa casually waved his hand. “Relax, Sis... For you, Sis Anggun, what wouldn’t I do?”
“So you’re a smooth talker now?” Anggun teased, crossing her arms over her chest and glaring at him suspiciously.
“Just wait here, Sis. I’ll bring the rest upstairs,” Dafa insisted, turning around quickly before his defenses weakened any further.
“Hmm... Fine, okay,” Anggun resignedly replied.
Dafa went downstairs, retrieved the rest of the shopping bags from the car, then carried them back up to Anggun’s room. He neatly arranged all the luxury paper bags in the corner of the table.
“There, that’s everything, Sis!” Dafa announced, clapping his hands together.
Anggun smiled sincerely, touched by the sweet treatment from the younger guy in front of her. “Thanks so much for tonight...”
Dafa stepped closer, his eyes gleaming mischievously as he looked at Anggun. “That’s all I get? Just a thanks, Sis?”
Anggun instinctively took a step back, eyeing Dafa warily. “What do you mean? What do you want? Don’t even think about trying anything!”
“Just one little thing, Sis,” Dafa replied casually, his faint smile widening.
“You’re starting to scare me...” Anggun murmured innocently, clutching her purse against her chest.
Dafa let out a bright chuckle at that. “I look this handsome and you’re calling me scary! I just want to ask Sis Anggun out tomorrow. What do you say? Consider it a thank-you. Yeah? Yeah? You’ll go, right, Sis?”
