Bryan had just finished changing his clothes when he received a call asking him to come to the office as soon as possible.
"Is she going to be much longer?" Bryan asked one of the servants there.
"I'll check right away, sir," the servant replied.
The servant went into Angeline's dressing room. Angeline was still struggling to take off the tight-fitting dress she had been wearing.
"Miss Angeline is still changing, sir. Please wait a little longer," the servant said.
Bryan looked anxious. He had to get back quickly and couldn't wait any longer. Without saying a word, he walked into the dressing room just as Angeline finally managed to remove her dress.
Everyone was startled by Bryan's sudden intrusion, including Angeline, who hurriedly covered herself because she wasn't wearing anything underneath.
"Why can't you knock!" Angeline exclaimed, throwing the first thing within reach. It struck Bryan in the face.
"Sorry," Bryan mumbled, averting his gaze before leaving the room.
"But... can't you hurry up a little? I have to leave now," Bryan urged.
Bryan left the room feeling awkward and confused. Karen arrived with drinks brought by her assistants.
"What's wrong with your face? It's all red," Karen remarked when she saw Bryan's flushed complexion. It was unusual for Bryan to act this way.
Angeline emerged from the dressing room looking much more composed and no longer embarrassed. Karen noticed the tension between them.
"You didn't take the dress, did you? Why don't we talk about it over some tea?" Karen suggested.
"I'm sorry, but we have to leave. Maybe some other time," Bryan declined, and Karen nodded understandingly.
They remained silent and tense throughout the journey. Bryan couldn't focus on his documents; he simply kept scrolling up and down on his tablet. He couldn't read a thing and soon began to feel dizzy, so he closed the tablet.
Bryan glanced at Angeline, who was looking out the window. He was still confused by what she had done earlier and couldn't help being curious.
"Is something wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Bryan asked anxiously.
"My stomach... it's been hurting since last night, and it seems to be getting worse," Angeline groaned, clutching her abdomen. She winced in pain and curled up.
"Why does your stomach hurt?" Bryan asked, bewildered, and Angeline shook her head.
"Endure it for now. We're going to the hospital," Bryan ordered his driver.
"Hello, John. Can you postpone your meeting for about... an hour? I need to go to the hospital now," Bryan told John over the phone.
"All right, Mr. President."
John was already in the middle of a meeting with the executives, but he explained the situation as best he could and rescheduled the meeting.
Bryan and Angeline arrived at the hospital. Angeline was in so much pain that she couldn't even get out of the car. Bryan had to carry her into the emergency room.
Doctors and nurses quickly arrived to provide Angeline with initial treatment. Bryan waited anxiously in the corridor while the medical team attended to her. He was puzzled because Angeline had seemed perfectly fine when they left the boutique.
Half an hour later, the doctor came out to speak with Bryan.
"How is Angeline, Doctor?" Bryan asked.
"Miss Angeline had stomach cramps due to her menstrual cycle. We'll give her pain medication and an IV drip because she's quite weak."
Bryan let out a sigh of relief, reassured that Angeline wasn't suffering from anything serious. After John arrived and took care of everything, Angeline was moved to a VVIP room.
An hour passed, and Angeline woke up feeling weak. She realized she was in a hospital room that was spacious and resembled a hotel suite, complete with a living room area, a sofa, and a large TV.
"Are you awake now?" Bryan asked. He was still in the room, waiting for Angeline to wake up.
"I'll call the doctor," said John, who had also been waiting. He left the room.
As Angeline tried to sit up, Bryan gently held her down.
"I'm sorry for causing you trouble, Bryan. But why are you still here? Don't you have an important appointment?" Angeline asked softly, trying to explain herself.
"Why didn't you tell me you were in pain?" Bryan asked, his voice soft this time and his worry evident.
"I didn't want to inconvenience you or disrupt your plans."
Bryan moved closer to Angeline and tenderly touched her face. "You'll never be a bother to me, Angeline. Your health is more important. I was worried about you."
Angeline gave him a faint smile. "Thank you, Bryan."
They sat together in silence for a while, Bryan still holding Angeline's hand. Despite the unexpected turn of events, they both felt that something was changing between them—a growing feeling they didn't fully understand yet.
The doctor returned and examined Angeline's condition once more.
"Has your menstruation been regular all this time?" the doctor asked. The doctor hadn't had the chance to ask earlier because Angeline had been so weak when she first arrived.
"No. I haven't had my period for over two months," Angeline replied.
"You should have come to the hospital for an examination."
"Is it a serious condition, Doctor?" Bryan interjected.
"Because her menstruation isn't regular, her uterus contracts during menstruation to expel clotted blood. However, after conducting various tests, we found nothing serious to worry about. She just needs plenty of rest and should avoid stress. She should also eat more vegetables and fruit. Excuse me," the doctor explained before leaving the room.
"I'm sorry," Angeline said, feeling guilty. Bryan closed his eyes, trying to contain his frustration.
"It's not like I wanted you to get sick like this. You know I don't have the money for medical treatment. And I thought everything would be fine because I've never felt sick before."
"Stop talking and focus on your treatment. You... are really good at making people worry," Bryan said firmly.
Angeline fell silent, absorbing Bryan's words. She looked at Bryan, who seemed different from his usual self. Was Bryan genuinely concerned about her?
